Who is eligible to receive donated equipment from Olympic College Foundation?

Eligibility is restricted to Olympic College students at this time. Some of the criteria for selection is weighted based upon factors such as time enrolled, financial need, and intended use.

Does Olympic College or Olympic College Foundation have to pay for hardware or software received during the computer drive?

No, all hardware and software are provided without cost. Warehousing and transportation of the equipment may be the only services Olympic College will have to provide if there are not enough volunteers.

How are the donated computers allocated to students?

Olympic College and Olympic College Foundation will determine the distribution of donated computers based on applications from students.

What if we have computers to donate but they are not in working condition?

At this time, we request working equipment only per previously outlined requirements. In the future, non-functioning equipment may be considered. We would first need additional volunteer help and operations support. That's why we are appealing to supporters to not only donate their retired computer equipment, but also time and resources to help us get the donated equipment to students as quickly and efficiently as possible. Corporate donors are encouraged to donate classroom-ready computers whenever possible.

    Can we donate computer software?

We accept donations of MS-DOS 5.0 or better, and Microsoft Windows 3.1 or better, or equivalent operating system software only. If you have operating system software to donate please note that all related diskettes or compact discs, applicable manuals and the original product license agreements must accompany the donation. If you are donating computer equipment with pre-installed operating system software the applicable manuals and the end user license agreements must accompany the donation, including the certificate of authenticity.

Can we obtain a tax receipt for the computer equipment donated?

Olympic College Foundation will be providing general letters which acknowledge your donation. You will be totally responsible for applicable IRS reporting obligations regarding your charitable contribution.
